apparently this is a thing and we need it ASAP

yesterday, I was doing some spatial planning (fixing a client’s mess of architectural plans cough) for a new master suite. their architect on the job is a bit of a novice: air spaces here and 19 foot vanities there, six windows in the shower. naturally, I wasn’t super surprised when I saw he had blocked off a 6’ chunk of space in the bedroom for god-knows-what. I’ve seen the weird architectural plans, but this one took the cake. I had no idea wtf this block was, so I gave the guy a call and we had a chat. I was kind of heated.

“it’s a coffee bar. client requested it,” he calmly said.

now, anyone who knows me knows that I have three loves in this world. three pure, unadulterated loves: my dog, christmas, and coffee. so when this architect explained to me that my client was going to have a full blown coffee bar in their master bathroom, I nearly died . as an interior designer but especially as a coffee connoisseur, I felt as if I failed myself not knowing about this sooner. as I did some more research, I found that these are actually a fairly common thing to have.

also referred to morning bars, these are essentially mini bars in the bathroom. they have a sink, espresso machine, coffee, cups – the who shebang – so you can have your gourmet brew in the shower. ugh, lifestyles of the rich and famous.

take a look and revel in envy at some of the most amazing en suite / bathroom coffee bars that the web has to offer!

so, I can’t be the last person to know about this, right??!

until I can live my rich and famous lifestyle and can build an espresso machine next to my toilet, I’ll have to continue my daily starbucks run, showering in the morning sans any coffee.

what are your thoughts on a coffee station / bar? are you as envious as I am? (let’s get coffee if you are).
