lately, I’ve fallen head-over-heels in love with brooding, baroque-inspired spaces.
I recently posted about my favorite material, unlacquered brass, but let this board serve as a nod to my other, equally favorite material as well: nero marquina mable.
for those unfamiliar, baroque style broadly refers to an artistic and architectural movement of the 17th and 18th centuries, defined by extraordinarily ornate details. in regards to modern interiors, it’s simply referred to as “high design.”
this board is one of my favorites. asides from featuring my ~favorite~ materials, the craftsmanship of each item is exquisite. pulling from the “high design” baroque concept, these are all the highest quality materials from the highest quality manufacturers; pure brass faucetry and console legs, a solid marble console, a premier water-jet cut marble mosaic.
the design itself blends baroque design in the traditional sense with modern interior concepts through the consistent use of straight lines. from the straight-lined water jet mosaic to the trip lever of the toilet, every fixture is streamlined and focused on hard angles (with the exception of the mirror and faucet – but not without purpose). the faucet lever mimics the trip lever, and the ornate details of the mirror intentionally make for a grand conclusion to tie the entire room together.
from the floor to the toilet base, every aspect is tied to another through the use of geometry and material.
I’ve seen powder rooms, and I’ve seen powder rooms. this powder room, I just would happen to live in. what about you?
